Never mind the season, Berlin with its lively cultural scene and diversity of sights is always worth a journey. World famous sights, such as Alexanderplatz, Berliner Fernsehturm, Berliner Dom, Gendarmenmarkt, Museum Island, Schloss Charlottenburg, Spandau, Unter den Linden or the Zitadelle Spandau, promise interesting expeditions through the capital of Germany.

Alexanderplatz
Situated between the former East and West part of Berlin, Alexanderplatz is the traffic linkage as well as gathering place for various activities. It is dominated by the highest building in Germany, the 368 meter high Berliner Fernsehturm (Television Tower) with a grand view over the city. The recently opened shopping centre ALEXA invites you until 10:00pm with a variety of more than 180 different shops.

Berliner Fernsehturm (Television Tower)
Arriving at the panorama floor of the tower, one enjoys a fantastic view upon the metropolis and its most recognisable sights. The tower restaurant, at a height of 207 metres, rotates twice an hour and enables a full view of the city while varying dishes are being served.

Underground Station: 'Alexanderplatz'
Berliner Dom
Built in the style of the Italian High Renaissance, the Berliner Dom, constructed 1894 - 1905, is the biggest protestant church of the 19th century. The vault of the famous monastic family Hohenzollern with approximately 100 sarcophagi is of special historic value. The altar created after the conception of Karl Friedrich Schinkel and the enormous Sauer organ are also accessible for visitors.

Monday to Saturday - 09:00am to 07:00pm
Sundays and Holidays - 12:00am to 07:00pm
During service and events the cathedral is closed for public visitors.
Underground Station: 'Hackescher Markt'
Gendarmenmarkt
The Gendarmenmarkt, often called Europe's prettiest square, is placed east of Friedrichstrasse, in the very heart of Berlin. Main architectural interest raises the theatre, built between 1818 and 1821 by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, today known as Konzertsaal. North and south the square is bordered by the Französischen Dom and Deutschen Dom, also worth a visit.

Museumsinsel
The building complex on the museum island, 1999 admitted to the list of UNESCO memorials, accommodates five of the most essential museums of Berlin.
Das Alte Museum (The Old Museum) holds ancient Greek art and a display of cultural history, as well as Egyptian artefacts.
Within the Neuen Museum (The New Museum) starting from the year 2009 the Egyptian Museum will be placed here with an extended exhibition featuring the bust of Nefertiti additional to the Museum of Early and Prehistory.
The Pergamonmuseum with its antique collection, the Middle East Museum and the museum for Islamic art, can also be found here.
The Alte Nationalgalerie shows sculptures and pictures of the 19th century.
Within the Bode-Museum one finds the Museum of Byzantine Art as well as the coin money cabinet.

Schloss Charlottenburg
The largest palace in Berlin, formerly called 'Lietzenburg' was built by the architect Johann Arnold Nering between 1695 until 1699. Today the visitor experiences the original style of Italian Baroque as well as 100 years of adaptation of the construction. Moreover the surrounding premises with their Baroque garden invite to a stroll in the open.

Spandau
The history of the western district is retraceable until the 6th century. The small city within the capital attracts tourists with its musical venue Zitadelle, the market square, the oldest house in Berlin, a cosy Christmas market and its small town ambience.

Unter den Linden
The alley Unter den Linden connects the historic city centre with the Brandenburger Tor. Theatres, libraries, museums, royal palaces and international embassies surround the 1.5 km long boulevard. Nearby is the campus of the renown Humbold Universität. Friedrichstrasse, known as the traditional shopping street of the city, is closeby.

Zitadelle Spandau
The Citadel Spandau, erected in the 16th century, is also characterised as one of the best preserved renaissance castles in Europe. The medieval Julius Tower, the palace, the jailhouse and the museum draw the visitor back into the past of the building.
